Mangalore: Shruti, the daughter of the then MLA of Manjeshwar in Kerala, was kidnapped at Pumpwell by six men, suspected to belong to Sri Rama Sene and Bajrang Dal in February 2009.

They had alleged that she, who was a student in a college in the city, was talking to a young man belonging to another community. Both the boy and girl had been pulled out of the bus and taken away in an autorickshaw by the culprits.

Cases had been filed against Prakash, Ranjit, Sharan, Aravind, Rajesh and Satish in this connection at the Pandeshwar police station. A charge-sheet was filed against them in a court in the city.

The second additional chief judicial magistrate's court examined all the witnesses and has ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish the charges.

Mohan Raj, Venukumar, Yuvaraj K Amin and Shalini A R had argued the cases of the accused.
