Mangalore: Eight Local/State Boys and Girls Qualify for Under -13 National Chess Championship

Mangalore:The Karnataka State Under -13 FIDE Rated Open chess Championship-2012 and State under 13 Girls is being held at “Karnataka Bank  Employees Association-Bejai,  from 14-07-2012 to 17-07-2012 organized by South Kanara District Chess Association under the Aegis of United Karnataka Chess Association.

State Under-13 Girls

Tulsi M from Mysore won the Title.

In Under 13 girls Final Round, Tulsi M from Mysore beat with her Black pieces with Vidya Moni from Bangalore and emerged as Champion of Karnataka State Under 13 Girls -2012 . She has won against every player whom she played with except the Mangalorean girl Swathi Bhat, where she drew with her.  In Second and Third Spots, Manasa H R of Mysore and Sharanya V from Bangalore tied with equal points, and according to Buchholz Tie break system Second place went to Manasa H R from Mysore and Sharanya V from Bangalore got third place.

Top four players of the event Under- 13 girls selected for the Under-13 National Championship which would be held at Chennai in the month of October-2012 representing Karnataka are:

Tulsi M from Mysore ; Manasa H R from Mysore ; Sharanya V from Bangalore; and.Swathi Bhat from Mangalore

State Under-13 Open FIDE Rated Results:

Arjun Adappa from Mangalore won the Title.

In open Championship, the local Master Arjun Adappa from Mangalore won the title in the end of the 9th and Final Round.

In the final Round Nikhilesh M Holla from Mangalore and Arjun Adappa  from Mangalore signed peace treaty and Arjun Adappa won the title with sole leads with 7.5 points out of Nine Rounds.

In the Second place Anantharam R U of Mangalore with 7 points and in Third place  Vivekraj from Mangalore shared  7 points each.

In the whole event the Mangalorean flag was raised high, and in the Top Five Prizes in Under- 13 Open all were won by Mangalore boys.

Top four players of the event Under 13- Open selected for Under -13 National Championship which would be held at Chennai in the month of October-2012 representing Karnataka are:

Arjun Adappa ; Anantharam R U ; Vivekraj ; Shraran Rao - all from Mangalore.
