Subrahmanya : ' Sarpa Samakara ' is a ritual, where people offer prayers to the Serpent God, to fulfill their wishes, and this ritual took place at the Kukke Subrahmanya Temple on July 20. But this time the temple witnessed a foreigner who had come all the way from Russia to fulfill her dreams of having a child.

Medical Practitioner, Anexin Taisib from Moscow, Russia had come to this temple to perform the ritual after hearing from a Hindu Astrologer. It is learnt that although Anexin had no health problems to bear a child, she decided to contact a Varanasi based astrologer for a solution. This in when astrologer Venkatesh guided Anexin to perform ' Sarpa Samskara ' as he told her that she had problems of ' Sarpa Dosha ( Serpent Curse )

About Sarpa Dosha : Sarpa/ Naga Dosha is caused due to wrath of the Serpent God in previous birth. Due to Sarpa Dosha marriages are delayed or ruined, Progeny may be denied, miscarriages/ abortions will occur.

Kalasarpa Dosha is normally hereditary. It is learnt that a person suffering from Sarpa/ Naga Dosha will see snakes and serpents in their dreams--and that is a clear indication of Sarpa Dosha. To perform Naga Dosha Parihara Pooja ( Sarpa Namaskara Pooja ) at Kukke Subrahmanya Temple , they charge around Rs. 1700, and the pooja lasts two days. This temple allows only four persons.

On the lighter side of vein, the only problem that the person suffering from Sarpa Dosha can't crave for Chinese food--because as part of the ritual you can't have noodles !!
