Mangalore: Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain. Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet. Many a times , man curses the rain that falls upon his head, and knows not that it brings abundance to drive away the hunger. There will a rain dance Saturday evening, weather permitting ?
yes, it wasn't actually a rain dance, but it did rained like Cats and Dogs in the City on Saturday evening July 21--not only it did rain heavily but also uprooted trees and electric poles in City and also in the outskirts of city. A huge tree was uprooted near police headquarters in Pandeshwar, which damaged the building partially, and also the tree came crashing down on a motorbike parked nearby, thereby damaging it badly. Luckily two women who were in the quarters compound narrowly escaped unhurt when the tree crashed.
It was also reported that nearly eight electric poles erected along Yekkur-Bajal road were damaged by a tree falling on the power lines. Fire department had to cut the trees to clear the road for commuters at two areas. Normal life was disrupted due to rain, and also due to the disruption of power supply.
Mangalore City witnessed 4.4 mm of rainfall on Saturday. |
