Mangalore: A three day National workshop on “Research Methodologies and Effective Publication Practices’’ organized by NMAM Institute of Technology co-sponsored by TEQIP was inaugurated on July 25, by Dr. S Karunanidhi, ‘Scientist G’ from RCI Hyderabad (a DRDO Organization). In his inaugural speech he said “knowledge is happiness and ignorance is darkness. Knowledge is obtained from one’s inside, and most of the inventions are originated from inside only.
Inventions do not have boundary and understanding ultimate is research”. “Necessity is the mother of invention and scarcity is the mother of innovation. Any research should lead to the benefit of society and the nation and anybody who works for the nation selflessly will achieve the highest position in the world” he added.
After releasing NMAMIT research Bulletin, Principal Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar in his presidential remarks said “Science seeks to understand what it is and engineering seeks to create what it was. Now a days society demands inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional research for its benefits ,and researchers should think in that direction”. “Researchers should carryout their work with seriousness and the work should be open to scrutinize and debate” he added. He also advised the delegates to make the research fundamental, applicable and of highest quality.
Dr. Divakara Bhat, Convener of the workshop welcomed the gathering and spoke about the scope and objectives of the workshop. Dr. Sudesh Bekal Dean (R&D) introduced the chief guest. Dr. Srinivas Pai, convener of the workshop proposed the vote of thanks.
More than 100 participants from various Engineering, Management, Degree and Polytechnic Institutions from Karnataka and neighboring states are participating in the workshop.
