Mangalore: The verdict is finally in - the third Judicial Magistrate First Class Court judge sentenced bus driver Rajesh BK, to one year imprisonment and also fined him Rs 5500 as penalty for rash and negligent driving. The court passed the order on July 5, according to police report, and that this is a deterrent against rash driving.
Rajesh BK on March 10, 2008 drove a city bus (route number 51A) rashly and negligently near State Bank of India main branch city bus stop and ran over a group of students who were waiting for bus on the footpath adjacent to the bus stop.
In that negligent driving by the bus driver, took away the life of two innocent young lives namely, Savitha (22) student of Mangalore University and Vikas (19) student of Matha Education Trust, who never thought that tragedy would strike them so young in life. Pandeshwar Traffic Police had filed the charge sheet against the accused within eight days of the accident. |
