Bangalore: Embarrassed by the heavy cross-voting by its legislators in the presidential poll, the BJP has been extra cautious to ensure that the finance bill (budgetary approval) would sail past the crucial voting during this assembly session. The bill is expected to be placed on the floor of the house on Thursday or Friday.
Since any repeat performance of cross-voting which was seen in NDA's presidential candidate P A Sangma fetching far less votes than expected would lead to the fall of government, party leader Siddu Savadi has issued a whip to all BJP legislators. The opposition parties are expected to move a no-confidence motion as well.
Some significant bills, beside the finance bill, are scheduled to be moved for voting. Any turnaround by even a handful of voters could prove disastrous for the government. Those in the SriRamulu camp are certainly expected to vote against the government.
The whip issued has made it imperative for all legislators to be present in the house from July 26 to August 2. |
