Mangalore: Sonia (20), daughter of Padmanabha Bhandary of Kandavar near Gurupur-Kaikamba, ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at home on Friday afternoon.

She was a student of BBM in the city. She is suspected to have taken the extreme step, soon after returning from college around 3-30 pm. The matter came to the attention of the people at home only around 5-30 pm. When she was rushed to the hospital, she was found to have breathed her last.

Sonia had a problem with her eyesight for a long time. She underwent treatment several times and also underwent a surgery, but she did not find much relief. She is thought to have ended her life out of despair.
