‘He who plants a tree, Plants a Hope” says Lucy Lacrom.

Mangalore : The project for the month of July, which was held at Lourdes School, Bejai  ' Vanasiri -Wealth of Forest ' began with a view of creating awareness among the students about the importance of trees and the wealth of nature. The project was inaugurated by the Principal Rev Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves on 7th July 2012.  He urged the students to protect nature in every little way they could and distributed saplings to the students.

The entire school went green with the window charts that highlighted the theme ‘forest’.  Students whole- heartedly collected pictures and information on nature and forest.

With the view of instilling in the students the love for nature, various competitions were held like drawing competition on the topic forest and sheltered trees for Class 1 and 2.  Elocution competition on the topic importance of forest for class 3, flower arrangement and best out of waste competition for class 4 and 5 respectively. There was also a duet dance competition held on 24th July 2012 on the theme' nature ' for class 1 to 5 where the students put up excellent performances and were appreciated for the same.

The finale of the project “VANASIRI” was held on 28.07.2012.

The finale of this project was held on July 28, 2012. Principal of Lourdes School, Rev Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Manager Rev Dr Victor Machado, Assistant Parish Priest of Bejai Parish Fr Anil graced the occasion.  Chief guest Suresnath spoke about the importance of trees and urged the students to grow more trees. 

The winners of the various competitions held under the project were felicitated by the chief Guest and the other dignitaries of the day.  The finale programme proceeded with the prize winning performance of the students.  Thus the project ended with a never ending message to the students “Each one Grow one”
