Mumbai : The Meera-Bhayander local committee of Mogaveera Vyavasthapaka Mandali (MVM), organised a special Sport Meet for the Tulu Kannadigas on 29 July, 2012 at Sector 5, Shantinagar Sports Ground, Meera Road. This is the first time in the history of Tulu-Kannadigas in Mumbai that this type of sports was held, which reminded of the ancient culture of coastal district of Dakshina Kannada. Most of the Senior Tulu-Kannadigas remembered their childhood through these childhood sports and games. The children enjoyed the games which included Kutti donne, Chennedamane, Hide and seek, chaduranga etc.
Ajit Suvarna, president of Mogaveera Vyavasthapaka Mandali appreciated the hard work of all the office bearers and members of Meera-Bhayander local committee in arranging such a wonderful ' Sport Meet' which was enjoyed by the crowd.
Joint Secretary Devaraj Bangera, Sports committee chairman Raju Shriyan Navonda, R. T. Kundar, Nalini Suvarna, Sunita Karkera and others helped to arrange and exhibit ancient sports materials. General Secretary Arun Kumar also spoke on this occasion.
Inauguration of the event was held as per the culture followed by lighting of lamp which was done by the president Ajit Suvarna, Local committee chairman Devadas P. Salian, Jayasheela B. Tingalaya and others. Vijaya S. Tingalaya, Yadava Kotiyan, Chandrashekar Karkera, Ashok Suvarna (Editor – Mogaveera Monthly), Girish Karkera, Gangadhar Bangera, Manjunath Mendon, Vijaya Tingalaya, Shankar Kotiyan, Manorama Amin, Neeta Mendon, Namita Kotiyan, Kalavati Tingalaya, Dayavati Putran, Anasuya Mendon ,and other members of Mogaveera Vyavasthapaka Mandali including its sub committee supported for the success of this event.
The finale of this meet was held in the presence of prominent leaders of Meera - Bhayander area.
