Puttur: He was a married man with a son and a daughter. Addicted to alcohol, he had tried to commit suicide twice in the past.

In the first attempt when he tried to hang himself from a tree next to his house, he was saved by his brother-in-law. In the second, when he tried to end life by hanging with a rope at home, right in time, his wife had cut the rope and prevented him from ending life.

On Saturday night, while his wife and children had gone to her parental house, Keshava (35), son of Pakira of Sarakootelu in Paduvannur village, appeared to have decided it was the right opportunity to make another attempt. With no one to save him this time, he succeeded in killing himself by hanging from a beam of roof of the house.

The rural police at Sampya have registered a case.
