Shirva: The ‘Independence cup’ Football Tournament organised by Indian Catholic Youth Movement( ICYM) Shirva has its own history, the tourney has completed six successful years and is being stepping into the seventh year. Invited teams across Udupi and Dakshina Kannada District come into Shirva every year to participate in this great tournament.

Indian Catholic Youth movement is all set this time to organise the 7 Independence Cup – 2012 here on Sunday 12, August 2012. St Mary’s Ground, Shirva is all  set and waiting for the' football warriors' to win the Battle and take home with them the coveted victory trophy- Independence Cup 2012.

The Inaugural ceremony will begin at 9.00 Am. Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Parish Priest and Director of ICYM will preside over the function. Abdul Ajeez, President of Kaup Block Youth Congress will be the chief guest for the Inaugural ceremony.

Independence Cup – 2012 means a lot to all the invited teams, and  Independence Cup to winners will be presented at  the Valedictory function on August 12, at 6.00 PM. Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro will preside over the function. David D'Souza, Managing Director of Prince Infracon Company, and Chairman of Shirva Football Club will be the chief guest.
