Sullia: Vivet Linet Mascarenhas, assistant lecturer at the Government PU College in Bellare in the taluk has been dismissed from service for absenting herself from work for many years.

Her unauthorized absence from 2004 to 2005 caused a show-cause notice being issued to her, to which she failed to reply. The then-block education officer, Malleshappa, was asked to submit a report. In 2009, she was served with a final notice to report to duty. Still she failed to attend to work.
