Mulki: A curious case of assault has been registered in the police station here. Krishni, wife of Shridhar of Manampady near here, has alleged that Madhukar Shetty and Rekha Shetty from her neighbourhood assaulted her in the head.

It was when Krishni could not find her favourite cat missing and had come in search of it near the house of Madhukar Shetty. She enquired with them about the cat. The exchange led to her alleging that they had killed her cat. This enraged the Shetty couple and they are said to have physically attacked Krishni, who was injured in the head, said the complaint.

The Mulki police are investigating the case.
