Manipal: Release on RTI workshop in Manipal Institute of Communication

Manipal: The Manipal Journal and Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) in association with Whitewhistle, Mangalore will host a half day certificate workshop on the use of the Right to Information Act (RTI) on August 11, 2012 at the MIC auditorium from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Harsha Raj Gatty will be the resource person. He is a Right to Information Activist from Mangalore and is also a Research Fellow in the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. He is also the Convenor of Whitewhistle, an RTI Education and awareness forum. Gatty founded Whitewhistle on May 2, 2011 along with retired bureaucrats and other administrative departments to create awareness among both public servants and citizens alike.

The workshop will provide students, and all others interested, a chance to really understand the intricacies of the Act.  It will create awareness on the immense powers that every citizen has viz-a-viz the Act. The participants will also be taught how to file RTI, which is immensely being used in investigative journalism in the country today.
