Karkala: Bike-rider from Belman Killed in Hit-and-run Case

Karkala: Subrahmanya Bhat, resident of Belman in the taluk, was killed on the spot when an unidentified vehicle knocked him down at Pilar on the road between Shirva and Belman around 9-30 pm on Wednesday, August 8. The mishap occurred within the Shirva police station limits.

Bhat was proceeding towards home from Shirva when the four-wheeler hit him. It did not stop but sped away. He was thrown to the road, landing critical head injuries. Speeding and negligent driving on the part of of the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle is said to be the cause of the mishap.

Based on a complaint filed by a friend of the deceased, Subrahmanya Navada, at the Shirva police station, the police are investigating the case and trying to trace the offender.
