Puttur: Autorickshaw drivers affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) here went on a flash strike at the Gramachavadi circle near the Kille ground on Thursday, August 9.

They were protesting against the newly-designated auto parking stands. Their demand was to continue the exisisting arrangement, allowing parking as earlier. When the public were put to inconvenience, there was confusion and commotion around. The traffic police arrived at the venue. They said they had no say in the matter, since it was the district administration's decision.

However, they assured that the drivers' grievances would be brought to the attention of the district authorities.

After obtaining the assurance, the drivers got back to work.
