Moodbidri: Reshma, wife of Majeed, an autorickshaw driver from Puttige near here, as an expectant mother, was admitted to G V Pai Memorial Hospital here on late Sunday night around 1 am. She experienced labour pains from the night, but the staff reportedly did not call the doctor until Monday noon.

Majeed says that he persistently requested Dr B M Shenoy and he arrived at 2-30 pm and performed a Cesarean surgery to remove the child. The newborn was found dead. He says it was the negligent attitude of the staff which caused the death.

He claims that when his wife was in labour pains, he had contacted the gynaecologist on Sunday. She said that she was in Bangalore but promised to make arrangement of a substitute.
Reshma's pains increased by Monday morning but the staff reportedly did not give serious attention to the matter.

He also expressed his sadness that even the police had refuse to register his complaint.

Negligence is clear. Doctor or nurse in charge should be accountable. This is happening quite regularly.

it is purely negligence of doctor and his team. they are only interest in making money, now even after i am sure they must have shown the big fat bill for this.. these days there is not even a sympathy from ,most of the doctors, forget about care and duty... secondly our both district most of the hospital nurses are not fit for their work, they are hardly trained in care taking, you can't see a smile on their face, show them 100 note and a big mouth open to any support to you

This is crass negligence on the part of the doctor. He should be punished for this.
