Sullia: After receiving complaints from residents and farmers around the Bantamale reserve forest area here, the forest officials had set a cage to capture the sole leopard which has been on the prowl for about a month now.
But the elusive cat has given them a slip and evaded being captured, in spite of a dog being kept in the cage to lure it in.
There was a quiet for a few days. Howeer, when everyone thought that it had gone back to the forest, the leopard reappeared near human territory on the night of August 12. It carried way two pet dogs kept at the house of Ambekallu Venkatramana Gowda near Bantamale.
The residents and forest personnel both are at their wits' end to work out a solution to the menace.
