Mangalore: Independence Day was celebrated at St Antony’s English Medium School, Padavu , here on August 15. 

Elias Sanctis, presided over the program and Arun Kumar Shetty was the chief guest of the event. The tri-color flag was hoisted by  Elias Sanctis, which was followed by a Cultural program and Drill Exercise, performed by the school children.

Headmistress Anitha Voilet welcomed the gathering.  In his inaugural speech, Elias said, "As per APJ Abdul Kalam, India will be the strongest nation in 2020" . At present some of the politicians are involved with corruption and they don't bother about the development of the country. We should respect the parents and the teacher because they are the three important persons in everyone's life. 
 
Vijay Kumar Shetty also spoke on the occasion. Usha compered the programme. Anitha Jyothi delivered the vote of thanks.
