Karkala: Durgaprasad (32), of Hosmar in Edu village, died when the motorcycle he was riding skidded and rolled over at the Hosmar turn.

He had come to attend the engagement ceremony of a relative. He borrowed his elder brother's new motorbike for a trial ride and rode to the town. On the way, the bike skidded. He was thrown to the ground and his head is said to have hit a large stone.

He was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival. A complaint was filed by his cousin Chokkanna Acharya in the rural police station here.
