"largest cultural fest of South India ..." - Report quoting a Professor.

All I see is a list of local 'sajjige-bajil' bands who try to sound western with their silly costumes or some bollywood noise in the name of music. Also, I find it quite strange to see Hip-Hop when the genre hardly exists in India!! (The only exceptions are some Punjabi bands from UK and a tamil band from Malyasia). Believe it or not, the American blues (Chicago style or Country/southern) probably fits better with carnatic musical background than Hip-hop or rap!!

Are there going to be at least one event to promote the local language of Kannada and our music? Also, Is there a single event of classical music (carnatic style) during this 5-day festival to promote south indian musical heritage to stupdents from other parts of India? I am just curious.

Oh well, our institutions do a good job of teaching science and math to our youngsters. But they miserably fail in teaching them self-respect !!

Oh!! This brings back memories of the days when I was in the college. Our batch in the 3rd year started this event in 1980 . It is till going strong after over 30 years! Never imagined it will reach this level of populatity & this level of turnout

Good luck
