Yenepoya honours new Medical graduates

Mangalore March 4, 2009: The Yenepoya Medical College (A constituent College of Yenepoya University)  hosted the 5th Graduation Day Ceremony on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the outdoor auditorium of Yenepoya University Campus.
 
All the guests and the dignitaries marched along with the graduates in a procession and the guests and the dignitaries were escorted to the dais while the graduates took up their designated places. The program began with an invocation by Mr. Haris. 
 
Dr. R.N. Sujeer welcomed the guests and the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Trustees and introduced them to the gathering. All the guests were honoured with floral bouquets.  Dr. Vina Vaswani (Prof.  & HOD, Forensic Medicine) read out the names of the graduates and Mr. Tilak R. Kem (Director of Consortium for Education Communication), presented the graduation certificate to 103 MBBS Students and 12 post graduates.
 
The Chief Guest, Dr. A.M. Pathan (recently appointed as First V.C. of Gulbarga Central University) who could not attend this function due to other engagements, sent his message to the graduates. Dr. B. H. Sripathi Rao reading out the message from Dr. A.M. Pathan said that students graduating from this college were well equipped and proficient in facing challenges in the field of Medicine. He commended Yenepoya University for increase in number of graduates every year and quality oriented education.

 

Mr. Tilak R. Kem speaking on the occasion said that he was very pleased to attend this graduation ceremony. "India is a large country and the population is bubbling, but still only 10 % of the students were going to Universities. In a family, if the mother, daughter or wife will be educated, then the entire family will be educated," said Mr Kem. Congratulating the Yenepoya group he said that this university has marked a new chapter in the field of higher education and also nurturing the women graduates in the field of Medicines by providing a supportive environment that encourages cultural and scholastic development of its students. "Education was an important tool to become successful in life, but only education will not make you automatically successful in life unless you set a goal for yourself," he advised the students urging them to expose themselves to new ideas and prepare to face global challenges.

Dr Pallavi R Kamath received a Gold medal for the Best Outgoing Student from Mr Tilak R Kem.
 
Dr. Syed Akheel Ahmed, the Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya University addressing the gathering said that the College was blessed with a wonderful community of students. He called on the graduates to accept social responsibilities and reminded them of three prime duties. "First and foremost respect your parents, never forget the teachers and finally use the knowledge as a promoter and to take the Medical education to greater heights before somebody takes it away from us," Dr Ahmed advised the students.
 
Mr. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi in his presidential address said that, Yenepoya University is very proud to produce the 5th batch of graduates and the relationship with the student will continue after they left from this University too.  The graduates embarked the new journey and they must learn to succeed. He also said that the students are not alone and Yenepoya University will always stand besides them to pursue their higher education. He also urged the graduates to be honest, generous and serve the patients with patience and kindness.

Chancellor Mr. Y. Abdulla Kunhi, Vice Chancellor Dr. Syed Akheel Ahmed,  Director Administration & Academics Mr. P.C.M Kunhi, Registrar Dr. Ravi R Vaswani, Y Moideen Kunhi ( The group Chairman the elder brother of Y. A.Kunhi, Trustees of Islamic Academy of Education,  H.O.D’s of various Departments  were present on the dais.
 
Mr. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi presented a special designed Crystal memento to Mr. Tilak R. Kem. The graduates handed over the mementos to the guests and the dignitaries. Dr. Sangeetha Shenoy and Dr. Ziauddin thanked all the lecturers, the Chancellor, and the Vice Chancellor for their cooperation and support during their tenure. Dr. Mahesh proposed the vote of thanks. There was a variety entertainment from the students and the faculty of Yenepoya University. A sumptuous dinner was served to all the attendees.

One thing unique about this University is that the campus is maintained so well, and the open air auditorium and the ground are very vast!
