Qatar: Raigad Warriors lift HAKQ trophy

Doha October 31, 2009: Raigad Warriors sponsored by Gulf Lights lifted the prestigious Trophy of HAKQ Cricket Festival 2009 by defeating the Ratnagiri Alphonsos sponsored by Hanan Cricket Club. The inaugural edition of the tournament was organized by the Sport Wing of Halqe-e-Ahbab-E-Kokan, Qatar (HAKQ). A total of Four (4) Teams participated on a League basis and the top two (2) teams played the Finasl on Thursday, 29th October 2009 at the Ideal Indian School Floodlit Ground.

Raigad Warriors winning the toss elected to field. Ratnagiri Aiphonsos lost wickets at regular intervals due to the excellent bowling and outstanding fielding by Raigad Warriors. Farook Mapkar and Furqan Sange took 2 wickets each, only Rizwan Pawne with 20 runs, Shafi with 17 runs, Kazi with 17 runs, Imtiyaz with 13 runs and Muzammil with 18 runs reached double figures. Ratnagiri Aiphonsos were restricted to 125 runs all out in the allotted 15 Overs.

In reply Raigad Warriors started well with Asif scoring 15 runs and Farook with 20 runs. However they lost a few wickets in the middle. A late charge by Irshad with a quick-fire 23 runs in 9 balls with 3 towering sixes changed the match in favour of Raigad Warriors.  He was rightly awarded the Man of the Finals. Musheer’s 5 runs helped the team reach the target of 125 runs with the loss of 7 wickets in 13.3 Overs.

Khalid Dalvi of Ratnagiri Alphonsos was awarded Best Batsman and Shafi Nagarji of Ratnagiri Alphonsos received the Best Bowler award. Both received Return Air Ticket of Doha - Bahrain - Doha sponsored by Gulf Air from Mr. Zafar Khan. Farook Mapkar of Raigad Warriors received Best All Rounder award and return ticket of Doha - Mumbai - Doha sponsored by Gulf Air from Mr. Zafar Khan.

Moulana Saeed Ubharay handed over a memento to Mr. Aman Ullah Gharatkar of Gulf Lights for sponsoring Raigad Warriors Team, Mr. Abdul Rehman Vanoo of Hanan Cricket Club for sponsoring Ratnagiri Alphonsos Team, Mr. Hasan Chougule of Emad Electricals for sponsoring Kokan Challengers Team, and Mr. Anwar Hamdulay on behalf of SAL Cont. & Trad. Co. for sponsoring Sindhudurg Royals Team.

Mr  Raghib Qureshi, Second Secretary of the Indian Embassy also honoured Mr. M. I. Farid, Consultant for HAKQ Sports Wing of KEMCO with a memento.

Mr. Yunus Thakur, Chief Coordinator of HAKQ Cricket Festival, Shafi Logde, other HAKQ Committee members, official Umpires Mohammed Nawaz and Mohammed Nasim were also present on the occasion.

Mr. M. I. Farid, (Consultant for HAKQ Sports Wing) of KEMCO conducted the proceedings.

Mr. Sameer Ubharay thanked all Sponsors, participating players and the public who gave their valuable time in making this event a Grand success. Complimentary Refreshments and a Lucky Draw were arranged for all those who were present.

Beard and green colours bother me because they are against my country and they dont sing my national song-Vande mataram.

Christian missionaries have done lot to the country. Also we are ready to sing our vande mataram.

You will do good joining RSS or Bajrangdal or there are many Saffron color uniforms are waiting for you. Is it because no one is wearing Crosses around their neck?
