Lakshmi Rai - Taking The Route Of Glamour

Chennai, Nov 14: The heroine of the latest Tamil release, 'Karka Kasadara', the stunning and startling, Lakshmi Rai, at last opened her heart out and talked about everything. There a host of girls making their debut in the film world these days, and only some of them manage to hold the limelight and can last for a couple of years. Lakshmi Rai is certainly a product who has come here to stay and is ready to treat the viewers with her spotless beauty. She is already decorated with the award of 'Miss Belgaum' for two years in a row, 2003 and 2004.

Amidst girls from Kerala making hay in Tamil filmdom, Lakshmi Rai, is trying desperate to establish a career here.

After a decent debut in Karka Kasa Dara, this actress oozed glamour all through in her next Kundaka Mandaka acting opposite Parthiban.

Is glamour going to be her cup of tea?

Yes, what's wrong, is the reply from the tall lass. Lakshmi Rai, however, adds, 'but it should not be a mere skin show.'

'In the beginning no doubt glamour helps one to get noted. After establishing myself, I would venture to do roles that will allow me to perform. In the actor-driven industry, I consider glamour an integral part of the industry'.

Lakshmi Rai sure knows a thing or two to survive.

Here are excerpts from an interview with Lakshmi Rai:

Tell us about you and your family first. Are you in any way related to Aishwarya Rai?

I was born in Bangalore and was brought up at Belgaum, which borders Maharastra. My dad is into business and my mother is a homemaker. I am the youngest of the three daughters to my parents. I did my studies at Belgaum and was indulged in either modeling, dancing right from my high school days. I tried hard and got the ‘Miss Belgaum’ title for 2 years. And to clear your doubt, there is absolutely no relation between Aishwarya and me.

What made you look towards Films?

As I already told you, I had developed some kind of obsession towards arts, be it dancing, stage shows or even modeling. I was successful to a certain extent too. Everybody told me that I would for sure get a chance in films without any difficulty, which happened just like that.

How did you land up in 'Karka Kasadara'?

It was always my habit to carry my photos, to be precise, my Portfolio since I used to do modeling. Somehow, it reached Mr. Udaykumar who was searching for a new face for his film, ‘Karka Kasadara’. The minute he saw my photo, he was fully satisfied and got me signed for the film. By the way, I am now working in a film opposite Srikanth in a Telugu film.

How was the feeling when you first faced the camera for 'Karka Kasadara'?

There was not an ounce of fear in my mind, since I had already faced the camera when I acted in a Kannada film before this. Moreover, I have completed a six month course on acting in Mumbai.

We heard that you are no more involved with 'Kurukkezhuthu', is it true?

Yes, Of course, I opted out of the film owing to the change in the story of the film. Before the start of the film, the story was different, and once the shooting started, the whole story line changed suddenly which I didn’t liked. So I took the way out.

In the film, ‘Karka Kasadara’, you were very liberal and gave a treat to the viewers, what do you think?

I have just done what was necessary for the particular scenes. I don’t mind acting like that, but I will never act in scenes, which will degrade my family and me. I too want to portray nice characters.

What about your parent’s response to your foray into the films?

Luckily, I have got good parents who always understand me and support me in my endeavors. Of course, they sometimes becomes a bit anxious whenever I go for outdoor shooting.

What are you aiming at?

I am aiming to work a lot in Tamil Cinema and become numero one some day. For this, I would be always careful to chose my film and maintain my body and also reputation.

What is your advice to the girls who aspire to become heroines?

I will say just one thing. They should only find a good production house and a nice script and good people who respect women. Along with this, they should get the permission of their parents too.

How do you keep your spotless beauty intact?

I don’t do anything special for this. I laugh a lot and may be, this is reason for my beauty.

Lakshmi Rai, with her acclaimed beauty and Talent is certainly destined to go further.
