| By Team Mangalorean
UDUPI MAY 9: Two boats flying Swiss flags arrived in Malpe port as a part of their worldwide rally on Saturday. The boats ‘Shelter’ and ‘Anthia’ were commandeered by the rallyists under the banner Vasco-da-Gama global awareness against piracy on the high seas.
The appearance of the boats plunged the local fishermen in sort of fear and they reported to the police. But when the sailors inside the boats interacted with the fishermen and apprised them of the reasons for them being in Malpe they understood and welcomed them. The coastal police were also present there.
There was a flotilla of 17 boats that has sailed from Turkey in Europe four months back, but only two came to Malpe. They had passed through Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Yemen, and Oman and have arrived in India.
The rally was being organized by a comity of nations affected by piracy since 1998. They have visited Mumbai, Goa, Karwar before coming to Malpe and they will further go to Mangalore and Kochi before going towards Europe. There were four sailors in each boat.

| Vasco Da Gama's exposed Hindustan to other world.... No doubt.... But sealed and checked the growth of Hindustani culture..... They put rich Hindustani culture inside a coffin and hammered the nails..... |

| Thomas D'Souza was not badmouthing his own country and culture. He was advising guests to be careful of the bad elements in India. India has a dreadful record in providing justice to the victims of communal violence. May truth prevail. |

Dear Thomas D'Souza,
Don't worry - India has a very good record when it comes to other cultures and giving fredom. You may want to explain these concepts to Switzerland who banned the construction of minarets in their country! It's very easy to preach about freedom from homogeneous countries where minorities are almost a fraction of total population. The story changes when minorities become a sizable population.
Historically, when a white man arrived in a boat from distant europe, he came with a clear agenda. He had a book in one hand and gun in other hand. Rest is history!!
So, please stop bad mouthing your own country and culture. |

Thank God, we have Swiss nationals
visiting our State and our small
seaport of Malpe.
Please ensure to welcome them in
your thoughts and deeds - and
guide them and protect them as
long as they are in our State.
Make them feel comfortable and
assist them in their needs and
comforts during their stay in
our State and in our Country.
Keep a watch on theifs and thugs
and Hindu fundamentalist - who
normally cannot understand culture
and freedom of others in this world. |
