Mangalore: National-level PG Management Fest Zephyr-12 Begins at SJEC

Mangalore: Zephyr-12, a national-level PG Management Fest organized by the Department of Business Administration, St Joseph Engineering college was inaugurated on 27 March, 2012 at 9.30 a.m. in the Conference Hall, Mechanical Engineering Block, SJEC.

The function was inaugurated by SDM Law College principal and chief guest Dr B K Ravindra, with SJEC assistant director Fr Henry Mascarenhas, principal Dr Joseph Gonsalvis as guests of honour and director Fr Valerian D' Souza presiding over. Dean MBA Dr Prakash Pinto, faculty coordinator Smita Jesudasan and student coordinators Darren Britto and Rayan D’Souza were also on the dais. 

Dr Ravindra, in his Inaugural address, remarked that the students should be grateful to their alma mater for the excellent education received. He asserted that ethics is the buzzword for the younger generation to adopt and practise.

Speaking on cyber ethics, he commented that “As long as you are using computer and the Internet for lawful purpose you are within the purview of cyber ethics”. He highlighted the ten commandments of cyber ethics to be exercised by all in their lives.

Dr Gonsalvis greeted the participants and expressed that the students should follow traditions and suitable practices to discern the right and the wrong through wisdom. He affirmed that “Technology can be used for good and bad purposes”.

Fr Mascarenhas stressed that the nation should be corruption-free and the task to achieve the same should be  borne by the youth.

Director Fr D’Souza remarked that ethics made a person strong. He wished the students to follow the ethical rules and practices to exhibit the citizenship of the country. He stated that values were more important than money.

The SJEC MBA team choir presented an invocation. Darren Britto welcomed the gathering. Rayan D’ Souza proposed a vote of thanks. Lanston Mario Pinto and Lasya Murthy compered the inaugural session.

Eleven student teams from various colleges in Mangalore, Bangalore, Kasargod, and Davangere are participating at Zephyr 12.
