Mangalore: 'All developmental activities will cause discomfort for a few people. For better good we have to accept some inconveniences,' said AICC secretary Oscar Fernandes here on Saturday, May 5.
He was responding to a question on MSEZ's alleged dumping of mud into the Phalguni river for the construction of road-cum-pipeline corridor, at a media meet.
With the residents of the region fearing displacement by floods during rainy season, Fernandes promised to visit the spot to overview the situation in the region.







He said that Supreme Court had directed the Pollution Control Board to investigate into the pollution caused by the Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL). It was the duty of the state government to implement the recommendations of the Pollution Control Board, he said.
Speaking on the presidential elections, he said that Congress was yet to finalize a candidate. He agreed that Pranab Mukherjee was one of the potential candidates. He also expressed his confidence that Congress would win the MLC elections of teachers and graduates constituency.
He was here to attend a party workers' meet at the Congress office, after the victory in Lok Sabha bypoll in Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency.
