Udupi:
Udupi district episcopal vicar Fr Baptist Menezes, by unveiling a logo, launched the platinum jubilee of Kemmannu St Theresa Church in the church auditorium on Sunday, May 20.

in his speech Fr Menezes said, "Our forefathers lived saintly lives, setting examples of goodness. They shared kinship showing deep concern for the neighbour, sharing whatever they had to with those who were denied of them.  We too need to emulate such examples.  We need to see that we do not have any destitute any more amongst us or in our neighbourhood.  We need to bear testimony to Christís teaching through coming to the rescue of the destitutes, have-nots around us by lifting them up educationally, financially and socially, then only do we avail the real meaning to this platinum jubilee," he said.

Vicar forane of Kallianpur deanery Fr Stany B Lobo as chief guest said, "We need to educate the youths and children the reliability and relevance of Christianity. Such task could only be achieved when we start believing that all the families coming under every church imbibe the same spirit of kinship.  Platinum jubilee celebration should aim at pooling in all the communities together and uniting them. It should not be merely an exercise commemorating an event routinely,"

Secretary Grace Machado shared information about the church history,  Fr Anil DíSilva, president of the platinum jubilee committee, enlightened about the plans envisaged in the diamond jubilee event.

Five nuns who had served in the church and in the convent school and now getting transferred were feted on the occasion. A playlet on the life of StTheresa was staged by the parishioners.

Parish priest Fr J B DíSouza, parish pastoral parishad vice president Ronald Menezes and Sr Leonilla were on the dais.

Earlier Vice President of the Administrative Council Ronald Menezes welcomed the guests, Vivek Cornelio proposed a vote of thanks. Vilbert DíSouza and Melini DíSouza compered the programme.

Episcopal vicar Fr Menezes was the main celebrant at the Mass, which was concelebrated by Frs Stany B Lobo, J B DíSouza, Reginald, Vulsy Rodrigues, Anil DíSilva and Wilson Andrade.
