Kundapur: In a ghastly collision between a Volvo bus and a truck that took place  near Gangolli police station between 5-30 am 6-00 am on Sunday, June 10, one person died on the spot and another six were injured, four of them critically.

The Volvo bus of Paolo Travels from Kochi to Goa via Mangalore was on its way to Goa. The driver appears to have failed to notice the parked trucks said to have been on its way to Goa. Initial reports said that the person who died on the spot was Peter (45) from Goa, the cleaner of the bus, who was sitting in the driver's cabin on the left hand side.

Members of the 24x7 helpline of Gangolli - Lipton Olivera Trasi and Mohammad Ibrahim MH Gangolli with help of Ganogolli sub inspector M Gopal Naik, and another local Gopi joined hands to shift the body and the injured to the government hospital.

The traffic on the highway was held up for some time. The Gangolli police arrived and cleared the jam. A case has been filed in the Gangolli police station.
