Udupi: Elections of Graduates and Teachers to be the Future Leaders

Udupi:
Polling for the legislative Council elections from the graduates' and teachers' constituencies commenced in Udupi District 8-00 am. 
 
There being 2,061 voters in Udupi District for the teachers' constituency, nine polling stations had been set up. In the graduates' constituency there being 6,134 voters, ten polling stations had been set up.  Only eligible voters who have enrolled their names in these 2 constituencies could cast their votes. In the voting paper, the voter had to give priority against 1,2,3 and 4 of the candidates and vote.  The voter had to select and write only 1 number against the name of a candidate.
 

Seven contestants from the graduates' constituency, 8 contestants from the teachers' constituency, covering Udupi, DK, Kodagu, Chikmagalur, Shimoga and Davanagere District's, and two taluks namely Honnali and Chennagiri. There are seven candidates in the fray in the graduates' constituency and eight in the teachers'.
 
Contestants for graduate constituency :  D H Shankaramurthy (BJP), SP Dinesh (Congress), S L Bhojegowda (JDS), Prabhakar Prabhu, B K Manjunath, Srinivas  Shenoy, Shankar Murthy (all Independent)
 
Contestants for teachers' constituency : Capt Ganesh Karnik (BJP), Ramesh Joyappa Hosur (Congress), C M Panchaksharaiah (JDS), Dr Arun Devdas, KK Manjunath Kumar, M P M Shanmukappa, Sooryanarayana Bhat (Independent)
 
There are altogether 57,000 voters in the graduates' constituency and 15,880 in teachers' constituency.  The counting of ballots for both constituencies will commence in Mysore on June 13.
