Puttur: Chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda arrived here by road from Mangalore airport on Sunday, June 10 morning. The sole purpose of this visit was to exercise his vote in the election to the legislative council from the northwest constituency.

He went to the taluk panchayat office to cast his vote. During the visit, he came across former BJP MLA Shakuntala Shetty, with whom, keeping the differences aside, he exchanged pleasantries and enquired after health and welfare. They shook hands with each other for some time.

Shakuntala Shetty is now not in the BJP but efforts are on to bring her back, while JD(S) too is interested in wooing her to counter the BJP influence in the forthcoming assembly elections.

He also spoke to Puttur block Congress president Kavu Hemanath Shetty, TMC opposition leader Mohammed Ali and other old acquaintances, who he happened to come across at the election venue, and they too were happy to speak to the CM.

Thereafter he visited Mahatobhara Shri Mahalingeshwara temple with wife Datty and son Kartik and offered Shatarudra seve and accepted 'prasadabhojana..

He later left for Bangalore by road via Shiradi ghat.
