| Bhatkal (PTI): In a tragic incident, the body of a 17 year old student Raunaq Jahan was found in Alvekodi Beach in Bhatkal on Sunday Morning. She was reported as missing from Ullal beach in Mangalore, since last Sunday and her body was found today, 200 KMs away from Ullal.
Raunaq Jahan, D/o Abdul Shukoor of Mudgere Taluk of Chikmagalore District, had been to the beach, with her parents and was said to be playing near the water when the incident occurred.


According to Abdul Shukoor, they were on a trip to the Ullal beach along with another family on the previous Sunday. While all of them were standing near the beach, Raunaq and Uzma (16), who were playing around, were swept into the sea by large waves on the beach. Uzma was rescued immediately, while Raunaq was not traced, he added.
Raunaque Jahan was a student of Alva College, Moodbidre, near Mangalore. She was a known as a brilliant student who completed her II PUC examination with 75% marks. It is said that said had secured a good rank in CET and was trying to get a medical seat.
Members of Local social organizations Majlise Islah wa Tanzeem, HRS and Top emergency service lent a helping hand in performing the last rites at Al Kausar College in Bhatkal and the body was later handed over to her relatives, who had rushed to Bhatkal, when they heard the news. |
