Manipal: Denita Ushaprabha of Katapady has been awarded doctorate (Doctor of Philosophy - Ph D) by Mangalore University for her dissertation on the subject of “The Role of Kudmul Ranga Rao in the Empowerment of Depressed Classes in Coastal Karnataka: A Study”.

She had conducted research under the guidance of Prof Jogan Shankar, dean and head of department of Sociology of the Mangalore University.

Denita has participated in various social researches and is at present working at Centre for Rural Studies, Manipal University as a Research Associate.

She is the daughter of Sadananda and Silvia Kairanna couple from Katapady of Udupi district.
