Bangalore: The much-in-the-news spiritual guru Nityananda Swamy had been arrested and produced in the Ramanagara JMFC court in connection with disturbances in his Bidadi ashram last week. He was granted bail on the same day. But he was arrested again and produced in front of deputy commissioner Shriram Reddy. He was sent a day's judicial custody to Mysore jail. Again he was granted bail thereafter.

One of his female devotees, Valli Ramanathan, filed a habeas corpus petition in the high court, stating that the guru was being unlawfully detained by the police and requesting that he be produced in the high court.

In the light of his being granted bail in the lower court, the habeas corpus petition was turned down by the high court. Ramanagara SP Anupam Agarwal was present in the court to submit the case of the district administration.

Mr. Naveen Kushekar: You are telling an open reality of the misguided lifestyle of some confused women in their blind fascination with certain gurus who are nothing but tricky people. I do remember one swami who is now located in the U.S. He was a charming personality and spoke fairly well from Gita, along with that he was injecting anti-Christian germs in our area. We the Christians and Hindus lived in peace, but this fellow came to our place with a beautiful woman, who was the wife of the general manager of one of the biggest
companies in Kerala. This lady can't be away from him, which put her husband into serious pain. Finally, the swami did something very dirty at his host family of our village, and driven out of the place for ever. While observing this kind of maniac mentality in some women, I do give some respect to the statement made by V.I. Lenin " religion is an opiate of mankind".
Please speak loudly about such issues which can open the eyes of many misguided people
of the society.

Some of the Indian Ladies love the sanyasis and gurus! They leave their home, husbabd and children and go to hear the pravachans and attend the pooja paats! they also forget that they left behind their home and children. When the law takes steps to arrest such gurus, who cheat them rape them etc, these ladies support them! These ladies have no shame.
