Udupi: Raghavendra Kanchan (27) from Bailakere in the district was arrested by the DCIB police from near Vijay Wines at Balaipade-Udyavar on June 18. He was found possessing a firearm without valid licence or documents. He is said to have been looking for a buyer for it.

On interrogation, he confessed to have tried, with the help of his friends Gururaj Poojary, Kiran Sherigar and Vishwanath Shetty, to kill 'Pitti' Nagesh and his friend Anwar while going in a rickshaw near Indrali railway station here early this year. Out of the four in the group, three had been arrested, but Kanchan had been absconding ever since.
