Kuwait: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), established in 1988, consists of members of the Catholic community hailing from the Canara region of Karnataka state and currently residing in Kuwait, with the motto ‘In pursuit of ensuring primary education to poor children’.

The Poor Children’s Education Fund is established in about 160 institutions spread all over in the Canara region of Karnataka. As of now, over Rs 2 crore has been donated by KCWA towards education and humanitarian needs in India and Kuwait, a major share of which is directed towards the cause of education of children in rural areas in Karnataka.

As part of ensuring higher education to poor and deserving students, KCWA now intends to help PUC and graduation-level students through the  ICYM and YCS units of Mangalore diocese. The deserving students will be identified from the parishes within the Mangalore diocese by the units of ICYM and YCS and the names forwarded for approval to the diocese ICYM / YCS review committee formed for the purpose.
