Mangalore: The investiture ceremony of Canara High
School (CBSE) was held in the TV Raman Pai convention centre here on June
19. The annual magazine 'Sphoorti' was also released on the occasion.
The programme commenced with a prayer dance. The governing council
members decorated the prefects and house captains with official badges and
sashes, which was followed by their pledge to commit themselves to their duties.
The oath was administered by principal Joy Rai.







The dignitaries and members of the prefectorial board lit the
traditional lamp. The second volume of the school magazine 'Sphoorti' was
released by Canara High School Association honorary president S S Kamath.
Kamath spoke highly about the ceremony and advised the students to perform
their duties with dedication and sincerity. He also advised the
other students to cooperate with the prefects. The dignitaries spoke on
the occasion and congratulated all the prefects on being chosen to the
responsible posts.
Honorary secretary M Ranganath Bhat cited the example of cricketer Sachin
Tendulkar and urged the students to imbibe his foresight quality that would help
them to be alert.
Honorary correspondent Kochikar Sudhakar Pai said that prefects were chosen
with the sole intention of leading the team just like M S Dhoni being chosen as
captain for the Indian cricket team. He also said that a leader need not be an
expert but should be capable of guiding his or her team members.
Advisor Ramesh Kedilaya said that prefects must follow the 'HOPE' in which H
stands for Honesty, O for Optimism, P for Politeness and E for Enthusiasm.
The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks and the national anthem. The
programme was compered by Shantheri Shenoy and organized by Purnima J
Bhat.
Members of the governing council Vaman Kamath, Maroor Sudhir Pai, Basty
Purushottam Shenoy, Ganesh Kamath, PTA president Tina Kamath and the other
members of the PTA were also present on the occasion.
