| Moodbidri: New Mother Hacked to Death by Husband in Hospital - Newborn Also Attacked

Moodbidri: In a barbaric incident that took place on Wednesday around 10-55 pm, a man hacked to death his own wife in the post-natal ward of a hospital here and also attacked the newborn and fled.
It all happened in a split second in the presence of the nursing staff, family members and others who were just shell-shocked and remained dazed for some time.
Jayant, working as a mechanic, reportedly had premarital relationship with Jayanti from Yedapadavu. She had got pregnant but he was refusing to get married to her. Finally, he was forced into marriage about 6 months ago.
Jayanti was admitted to the community health centre here for childbirth and she had delivered to a boy on Tuesday. Since it was a general ward, there were many people around. Jayant is said to have suddenly barged in with a machete and hacked Jayanti. Blood splashed over a nurse standing near the bed.
Jayanti's mother and younger sister also were next to her in the ward. Jayant also attacked the newborn, which was severely injured in the hand. After the act, Jayant is said to flashed the machete at all those present and threatened them and then fled.
Before fleeing, he threw the machete at the entrance of the health centre.
The police have registered a case and are on the look-out for the culprit.

| This man is not a human being, killing his own wife that too when she was in the hospital. He don't have any rights to live on earth. The law should be strict in such cases and hang such person immediately so that others can learn from this. |
