Udupi:
As reported already, three persons who had gone to fish in an artificial pond in a field at Moodugiliyaru near Kota had been found missing and were feared to have died. The bodies of the trio were recovered on Thursday, June 21.

Narisimha (65), son of Maasti , Raju (45) son of Kushta and Raju's son Kiran (15) were the three victims. Narasimha and Raju were daily wage-earners, while Kiran was a student of Kota Viveka High School.

The three persons had gone together  for fishing on Wednesday at 5.45 in the evening in an artificial pond, about a kilometre in distance from their house. When they had not returned even until 8 pm, the members of the family and neighbours went to check near the pond. While there could not be seen there, their clothes and sandals were found lying by the side of the pond.

It is suspected that they had gone to catch 'oge meenu', a special breed of fish found during monsoons, esp., heavy rains. The relatives filed a complaint to the Kota police station.

Kota police station inspector Ashok P and station master of the Kundapur fire service Bharat Kumar arrived with their team and began a search which went on until 11-30 pm. The search continued the next morning and the bodies were extricated around noon on Thursday.

After the post-mortem examinations, the bodies were handed to the families. A case has been registered with the Kota police station.
