Team Mangalorean - Moodbidri

Moodbidri: Jayant, who had barged into the community health centre here on Wednesday and hacked his wife to death and also injured the newborn, has been arrested by the Bajpe police at Yedapadavu early Saturday, June 23 morning.

The police had a tip-off that he was in Mangalore for two days and were on his trail. He is said to have slept by the side of the roads there. On Saturday, he was found in a sleeping state at Yedapadavu and is suspected to have consumed some sleep-inducing pills. He has been admitted to a hospital in Mangalore and and kept under surveillance.

Jayant had caused the premarital pregnancy but had refused to get married to Jayanti. After police intervention, they were joined in marriage on March 1, 2012.
