Kundapur: As already reported, an unidentified body was found near the Konkan railway track near Hattiangady in the taluk on Sunday, June 24.

After investigations, it has been found that the body belongs to Satyendra Singh, a soldier with 148 Kerala battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF). He is the son of Bhim Singh and Bachuli Devi, and husband of Kamini, hailing from Delhi vicinity. He was travelling home by train from Kerala to Delhi and it is suspected that he lost his balance and fell off the train.

The Kundapur police, based on the mobile SIM card and ATM withdrawal receipts found near the body, tracked down the phone numbers, which got them in touch with the Kerala unit of BSF. Although there was suspicion that it could be Satyendra Singh, it was not confirmed until someone from the force identified him.

On Monday, June 25 BSF deputy commandant Kiran Govinda and a team of officials arrived in Kundapur to verify. They confirmed the identification of the body as that of their soldier. It was taken to KMC Manipal for post-mortem examination. On Tuesday, it will taken to his hometown.
