Mangalore: In the background of the Mangalore - B C Road National Highway construction, six Adivasi Koraga families staying at Nanthur were  displaced from their houses.

These families were staying in Nanthoor for more than nine years before they were displaced. They don't have a house to stay. In a letter addressed to the District Commissioner the Dalit Rights Committee has stated that these six families have been displaced, but only a small amount was given as compensation. Although eighteen months have passed no land sanction document has been handed over to them nor the house rent has been compensated after 3 months. In spite of several requests there has been no response from the district administration nor from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Dalit Rights Committee member and Karnataka State Adivasi Hakkugala Samanvaya Samiti leader and State Convenor Krishnappa Konchadi speaking on the occasion said "The district administration did not bow down to the protest march we had held from Nanthoor to DC's office to protest regarding the same. They said that no remedy can be given to the dalits who have lost land as it was government land that have lost.

Dalit Right Committee Secretary Lingappa Nanthoor, DRC member Vasudev Uchil, Ullal zonal committee for Dalit Rights President Narayan, Porkodi Dalit Rights Committee members Nellappa , Kishore Porkodi, Dalits Horaata Samiti Vice President Thimmaiah Konchadi were present.
