Panaji: Goa CM dismisses Sri Ram Sene chief as inconsequential

Published Date: 27 Jun, 2012 (9:46 PM)

Panaji, June 27 (IANS) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar Tuesday aggressively reiterated his commitment against the Karnataka based Hindu group Sri Rama Sene (SRS), calling its leader Pramod Muthalik "altu-faltu" (inconsequential).

Parrikar was responding to questions from the media about the proposed entry of the SRS in Goa and Muthalik's public invitation to Parrikar to inaugurate its proposed state unit.

The Goa administration had in 2009 banned Muthalik's entry into Goa, after media reports that he was planning to set up an SRS unit in the state.

"Why should I give so much weightage to Pramod Muthalik? Am I so bankrupt... I am asking you, should a chief minister accept such cheap invitations? Why should I pay attention to such altu faltu persons," asked Parrikar.

Muthalik's remarks about setting up shop in Goa earlier this month had created a public outcry here, with even the hospitality industry voicing its deep apprehensions.

The SRS had gained notoriety after its activists vandalized a pub in Mangalore, attacking its patrons including women in the name of "protection of Indian culture".

Koni P Naik... I agree with your comment when it comes to Mr Parrikar and Mr S Gowda. Modi is a disgrace to democratically run country and dont forget he is responsible for the death of thousands.

Among both Parriker and Gowda, I salute Parriker first because you can see the education in his governance. He is tough and he knows what is right and what is wrong. His actions speak louder than words. I welcome him to be a good candidate even for the position of PM.

Gowda on the other hand is a a good person but not tough. He can be influenced by his own desperate and totally unrully party members as well as such uncultured like Bajrangis and communal forces who are bent on destroying the peace. His promises takes a longer time to convert it into action. I do see that he is trying to be secular but with difficulties

In the current situation in Karnataka, we could not have found a better CM but I hope he follows the footsteps of Mr Parrkar

In this climate of political pollution I am glad to see bold leaders like Parrikar, Sadanand Gowda, Modi carriying out their duty with responsibility.

We still can hope and expect good governance so long as we have such selfless leaders.

Leader becomes a real hero when he respects the aspirations of each and every innocent voter and tries to live upto their expectations rather than just succumbing to the polluted politics for his personal agenda.

I only wish and pray that the youth of today turns out to be the citizens of tomorrow in real terms. I also wish that our leaders undergo some kind of entrance test before they are allowed to contest elections... because you reap what you sow.

BJP came to power as people of the State were fed up with Corrupt Dynastic rule of Congress, taking a well calculated risk of Saffronisation. Now Shri Manohar Parrikkar never want to take a chance with Sangh Parivar's entry in to the Goa Arena, he knows his people's pulse and why they voted his Party.
