Mangalore: A two-day Management Development Programme organized by the MDP Centre of  AIMIT, St Aloysius College at Beeri on the outskirts of the city was held on June 27 and 28.

At the inaugural on the first day, AIMIT director Fr Denzil Lobo SJ welcomed the participants and spoke of the initiatives taken by AIMIT to promote interaction with the industry and academia through MDP and FDP programmes conducted by the Institute.

MBA department chairman Dr Oswald Mascarenhas SJ spoke on the various aspects of commodities  trading and said, "We need to develop a proper philosophy of trading lest we get into deception and unethical practices."

Sessions during the two days of the workshop were conducted by MDP faculty coordinator Venkatesh Amin, assisted by MBA department faculty Elroy Monis and Divya  Pereira. The participants were given in-depth and practical knowledge of commodities trading. Five participants even came all the  way from Bangalore to attend this unique programme.

This year AIMIT will be organizing MDP and Faculty Development programmes on regular basis. Venkatesh Amin, who is the coordinator of the MDP Centre, has planned to have at least one MDP/FDP per month. 

Some of the MDPs planed for the year are: Organization Behaviour, Retail Industry-Challenges, Real Estate-Industry outlook, Emerging Industries - (Water, recycle waste, food, health care and Energy ); Automobile- After-market Distribution and Challenges; Service and Services Industry  Challenges; IT and IT Enabled Services-Opportunities for young entrepreneurs; Logistics, Packaging and Transport Industry; Health Insurance; Turnaround Management, Creativity and Innovation and Training Programmes for Corporate Trainers in leadership.
