Kundapur: A young woman, two teenagers and a eleven-year-old died of drowning in a huge tank built for water harvesting at Hattiangady in the taluk on Sunday, July 1 evening.

Nayana (20), Naveena (13), Pavana (11) and Pavitra, all belonging to the same family of daily wage-earners, are said to have got into the tank to bathe. Since they did not return home by late evening, family members went in search of them and found their footwear lying next to the tank.

After some time, Nayana's body was found floating. Later the fire service personnel arrived and pulled out the other bodies. Naveena and Pavana studied in higher primary school in Koodlu and Pavitra was PU student in Kundapur.
