Manipal: The State government's ‘Shalegagi Navu Neevu’ programme will take effect in the schools across the district on State on July 5, in order to boost quality education and basic facilities in the government schools, said Udupi zilla panchayath president Katapdy Shanker Poojary. He was speaking with media persons here at zilla panchayath office Rajathadri Manipal. The programme has been extended this year too due to the positive response it received during last year.





The elected representatives including the MPs MLAs, the government officers, panchayat members, the residents and old students will be part of the programme. They will visit the schools, hold discussions with the school staff, parents and children, analyse the problems and try to find out a solution.
It will be taken up in three phases to ensure quality education in the district. This programme is taken up in government primary schools and high schools where there are 617 primary schools and 106 high schools in the district he said. ‘Shalegagi Navu Neevu’ campaign would create awareness about the Right to Education (RTE) Act among children and parents. Elected representatives would discuss schools' priorities with the school development monitoring committees, parents, schoolteachers and children on that day he said.
