Udupi: Yet another shocking news of a precious life lost where a IAESTE (International Association for Technical exchange) student from Poland, Miloez Lachowski(22) got drowned when he went for swimming at Thottam coast along with four other friends namely Marana Maazam(f) from Tunasia, Kinga Bar(f) from Poland, Marcin Dlubis(m) from Poland and Prassanna ( their Indian friend). They had come to Malpe beach to swim but decided to walk towards Thottam beach at around 1.30 pm in the afternnoon, for swimming.
After swimming for nearly two hours , two of them were spotted quite far off the beach and looked as if they were in danger. Local fishermen observed this and immideately entered the rough sea with ropes to rescue them. The fishermen were only successful in saving Marcin Dlubis, but by the time they reached near Miloez he was already drowned.

“Since I was around, I immediately rushed to the spot. We grabbed whatever ropes we had and rushed into the water” said Ravi. Ravi accompanied by Ramesh and Purandar, the trio managed to save one Polish student.
These foreign students are part of IAESTE (International Association for Technical exchange) and have to come to Manipal University on a student exchange program. Over 60 students every year visit here as part of such programs, and they come from different countries around the world
