Mangalore : The talk of the town these days is the series of tragic news of youngsters committing suicide. Added to that is yet another case of suicide by a youngster in Suterpet on July 5.

Renol Miranda, a 21-year-old Engineering student of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor and son of Wilfred Miranda, residing in Dynasty 1 Apartments, committed suicide by lying on the tracks of an oncoming train near Attavar.

According to sources he was of a quiet nature and did not mingle much with others.  On July 5, around 6 O'Clock Renol had gone out of the house, before which he met many of his friends. The incident came to light in the evening when the family members were informed about the tragic death of Renol.

When Renol was in sixth standard he had lost his mother. His elder sister Riyani is working in Bangalore after completing her Engineering.  Renol who may have been depressed and with no one to share his feelings with might have taken this extreme step, said close sources.

Wilfred Miranda after his wife Lynette's death is said to have recently married another woman who is living with him with her 2 children from her first marriage. Both of them are studying in St Mary's School.

In his suicide note, Renol has mentioned that no one is responsible for his death.  When Renol took the harsh step, his  father was away from home.

What drove him to suicide is yet to be known.  A case has been registered in Pandeshwar police station.

very sad to hear the news. Pray Almighty, Renol's soul to rest in Peace in eternally. I fail to understand how come Renol took such a sad step when our community is close knit, where we have small christian communities in each parish, who visit members and share each others joys and troubles. One more thing I would like to point out is it is high time our clergy and eminent leaders try to understand what is making people stay away from Church especially in Mumbai, the Youth are always msising the sermons are such that we hear the same quotes repeated again and again from bible. I feel there interaction is lacking the only interaction is prayer groups where people spend endless time praying in Church rather than doing social work for community or interacting with other community members. Abroad it is worst, since foreigners are leaving the Church and becoming Athesist. It is high time our Clery all over the World thinks about Christians first b4 appeasing other communities where we get only hatred in return. Otherwise Christianlity which is only 2% in India, will become 2% all over the World and may be lesser.

Can the college from now on start a compulsory counseling session both for the staff and students so that such incidents can be prevented. Our children are our wealth and anything untoward happens to them can cause immense damage. After all, scoring high marks can't always be considered a ladder to success in life.
My heartfelt condolences to the family.May the boys soul rest in peace.

What a tragedy, I wonder what the reason was to drive him to despair. His friend and family must be regretting for not realizing how pained he was.

May the Lord bring him to life everlasting.

Very shocking news, now a days suicide is common among youth. The reason is lack of counselling, parents busy in their own world, lack of love in the family, sometimes parent's fight front of their children. I suggest all the parent's to understand the children well and try to be more friendly with them so that they can share their feelings.

May Renol's soul rest in peace.

What a sad and tragic destiny of a young man who chose to end his life during the prime stage of his youth.

Nearly sixty percent of India's population is below the age of 30 years. The youth of today is confronted with so many new challenges. They need so much of mentoring and comforting in their daily program of life. The school situation is tough, the home situation is tough, the job situation is tough, and the overall economy is tough for everbody everywhere.

Each and everyone of us have a responsibilty in helping each and every youth in whatever way possible in their daily struggles of life. May God bless us and help us all.
