Report by Michael Rodrigues Team Mangalorean Udupi
Udupi: Guru Poornima was celebrated with fervor and
traditional gaiety in the city recently. Several spiritual programmes to mark
the occasion were held at Hotel Kidiyoor hall under Leadership of Umesh
Shenoy , Secretary of Neelavara Goshala.
Sri Raghavendra Acharya honoured Swathi Kini & Suhas Nayak for
scoring high through the Sanathana Institute, on this occasion. In his message
Acharya expressed his dissatisfaction over the values of Hindu religion
imitating the values of the West, and he felt the need to teach mother tongue to
our children giving examples of nations like Japan and Germany where primary
education begins with mother tongue.

He felt that this would facilitate creativity, thinking attitude, and that
the English Education has been creating so called intellectuals who declare
anything advised to our youths to be "Kesarikarana" (saffronizing), and
expressed his displeasure about it.
Sri Umesh Shenoy, Sanathana Institute in his message said that "Ashada Shukla
Hunnime means "Guru Poornima", where on this day, the theory of Guru gets
tested. This day is indicative of showing respect to teachers surrendering
before them, bowing down to them in great respect. This day is eventful in
spiritual perspective. It is saddening to take note that
nobody is practising dharma. Politicians, policemen including ourselves,
nobody thinks of the nation & religion in proper light.
Corruption is rampant. Terrorists have come into every village now. Gods &
Goddesses are ridiculed.
Kidiyoor Hotel Proprietor Jitesh Kidiyoor , Chittaranajan Hegde, of Vishwa
Hindu Parishath ; Dharmabhimani Sudhir Nayak, Nagesh Kamath of the famous
drama "Mooru Muthu" were felicitated on this occasion. Religious
books enlightening the nation about dharma were exhibited on this occasion. |
